Application of “ANION” systems
Mostly, the systems are used to soften water and purify it from iron and oxidizability (organic substances – which are usually found in surface waters), however additionally the systems also reduce manganese, ammonium and sulfates.
Operating principle
The system tank is filled with a media consisting of three components – quartz stones, cation ion exchange resins and anion ion exchange resins. Quartz stones are used as a protective layer and for distribution of water flow. Cation exchange resins are used to soften water and purify it from iron and manganese compounds, while anion resins are used to purify water from organic substances (oxidizability).
Water, flowing through this media located in the tank, binds calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese, ammonium and other ions. Thus, water reaches the consumer purified. However, untreated water flowing through the tank volume gradually reduces the working capacity of this media (resins), therefore it must be periodically regenerated. Regeneration occurs automatically by flushing with a salt solution. This is called filter regeneration. During regeneration, accumulated elements (Ca, Mg, etc.) are flushed to the drain. When the flushing process is completed, the unit is again ready for operation and water purification. The unit operates in automatic mode with the help of a control mechanism.
The control mechanism is fully equipped with the necessary functions to individually adjust the required settings for each client, based on water analysis results, water pressures, etc. The control mechanism is equipped with a water consumption meter, which ensures regeneration intervals (counts liters until the next regeneration), thereby ensuring savings of the reagent “Salt” and water.

Components and Manufacturers
The most essential components of the units are the control valves and filter media. With extensive experience in water treatment, we have full confidence in the quality, safety, and durability of the materials used.
This series of water treatment systems is equipped with USA-manufactured Clack WSEI and WSCI control valves.
The ion exchange media used include Dowex, Purolite, or equivalent.
Technical parameters

-
The performance of the unit is influenced by water quality; therefore it must be taken into account that the worse the water quality, the slower the purification speed.
-
Regeneration frequency is calculated individually for each client and depends on the quality of treated water (water hardness, iron, manganese, ammonium, etc.) and the selected unit model.
-
The total wastewater volume per one regeneration also depends on water pressure, pipeline diameters, etc.
-
Reagent consumption also depends on the quality and density of the reagent “Salt”, etc.
Operation
-
It is necessary to constantly and regularly monitor the replenishment of reagent in the unit’s salt compartment, which depends on the reagent tank volume and water consumption. In standard situations, salt is replenished approximately 2 times per month by filling the reagent compartment fully with salt granules. The next replenishment must be performed when the salt level in the compartment has dropped approximately by ½ of the total volume.
-
It is recommended to perform unit maintenance once per year.
-
Periodically (every 5–10 years) replacement of the unit’s media will be necessary. Replacement frequency depends on treated water quality, flushing efficiency and water consumption.
Warranty
The total warranty of the unit is 3 years.
