Description of the “OXY” series systems:

“OXY” iron removal systems use an aeration method to remove iron from water by oxidizing iron and manganese and then filtering them out.

Brief operating principle:

Raw water from the source is pumped to the water treatment area and fed into the “OXY” filtration system. The filtration tank contains air (including oxygen). As water flows through this air, dissolved iron (Fe³⁺, Fe²⁺) is oxidized, forming compounds (Fe₂O₃, FeO) that are easier for the filter media to capture.

The precipitates and compounds (Fe₂O₃, FeO) formed during oxidation gradually settle until they are retained by the filter bed located in the same tank. As a result, the water after filtration is clean and free of iron. An additional function of the filter bed is that it also acts as a catalyst, which means oxygen is not strictly required to perform iron removal. In this system, oxygen serves as an aid to improve efficiency and extend capacity.

The filter media must be periodically backwashed with water. During backwash, accumulated iron is flushed to the sewer and the oxygen level in the tank is restored. Backwashing is performed automatically by the control valve.

The control unit is fully equipped with the necessary functions to accurately set individual operating parameters for each customer based on water analysis results, water pressure, and other specifics. It includes a water consumption meter that counts liters until the next backwash, helping to reduce wastewater.

Important! No chemical reagents are required for operation. This means the system does not ухудшает (does not ухудшать) the quality of water used for food purposes, and the backwash water does not harm biological sewage systems.

Benefits of using “OXY” treatment systems:

  • High water treatment efficiency
  • Improves the quality of water used for food purposes
  • Fully automated operation
  • Easy operation and servicing
  • Low operating costs
  • Wastewater can be discharged to biological sewage systems
  • No special reagents required
  • No compressor required to replenish oxygen

Treatment efficiency

(Maximum allowable concentration in water intended for treatment)

  • Iron (Fe²⁺/Fe³⁺): 7 mg/L
  • Manganese (Mn²⁺/Mn³⁺): 1 mg/L
  • Hydrogen sulfide (H₂S): 2 mg/L

Water quality after treatment:

  • Total iron (Fe) concentration in treated water: < 0.2 mg/L

Important!
The treatment level is also affected by other chemical parameters, such as oxidizability, pH, etc. A significant increase in these parameters may reduce the system’s treatment efficiency.

  • Recommended water pH: 6.5–9.0
  • Recommended oxidizability: < 12 mgO₂/L (as stated)

Technical parameters:

  • System capacity is influenced by water quality: the poorer the water quality, the slower the purification rate.
  • Backwash frequency is calculated individually for each customer and depends on the quality of the water being treated (iron, manganese, and other substances) and the selected system model.
  • The total volume of wastewater per regeneration also depends on water pressure, pipe diameters, etc.
  • Backwash duration depends on the settings configured individually for each site based on water quality.

Configuration and manufacturers:

The key components of the systems are the control valves and the filter media. Extensive experience in water treatment provides full confidence in the quality, safety, and durability of the components used.

These water treatment systems are assembled using:

  • US-made Clack WSEI / WSCI control valves
  • Quartz sand “Dansk kvarts industri” (Denmark)
  • Filter media “Birm” (USA), Pyrolox or Manganox (Lithuania)

Operation

The system does not require continuous supervision, as there is no need to add reagents, clean filters, etc.

Periodically (every 3–7 years), replacement of the filter media will be required. The replacement interval depends on the quality of the water being treated, the effectiveness of backwashing, and water consumption. It is recommended to perform system maintenance once per year.

Warranty: 3 years.
